Filippo was the first to hit the track in go-karts at the age of 8. During his youth, he was fortunate to grow and develop his knowledge of cars and motorsports while working at his Family’s car dealership. He gained experience in motorsports by watching and working on his uncle’s SCCA racing team. During those years, his love for motorsports continued to grow and develop.
He got his first official start in car racing at age 16 with SCCA’s autocross events and road racing by age 18. At age 18, he built his first race car, a 1971 Alfa Romeo Spider E Production. Filippo raced this car for 13 years in the SCCA E Production championship series.
He then took a short break from racing but returned to autocross in 2022. 2024 marked Filippo’s official return to road racing in a 1998 Van Diemen RF98 Formula Ford. Filippo finished second in the Midwestern Sports Car Club Formula Ford championship. He also competed in a GTL Fiat 131 at the SCCA Majors June Sprints at Road America. This was followed by several vintage races at Road America, including a first-place finish at the VSCDA Arien’s Art on Wheels event. He wrapped up the 2024 season with third and second-place finishes at the 2025 Fall Sprints, as the SCCA season began right after the national championship races held in early October 2024.
